16 oz (400 g) pack extra firm tofu, pat dry, cut into 6 slices
1/2 cup (64 g) cornstarch
1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried Italian herb seasoning
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
5 button mushrooms, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable broth
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp dried rosemary
2 tsp cornstarch
- Preparing the crust
- Combine all crust ingredients in a shallow mixing bowl.
- Preparing the Gravy
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Cook onions for 5 minutes.
- Mix in the mushroom and rosemary.
- Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Cook for 3 minutes.
- Add in the vegetable broth and cook for 12 minutes.
- Heat oil in another pan over medium heat.
- Roll tofu in the crust mixture.
- Cook tofu in hot oil for 5 to 6 minutes each side.
