Versatile Mushroom Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (64 g) uncooked wild rice

  • 4 cups (512 g) cubed day-old French bread

  • 1/2 cup (64 g) butter

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 3 cups (384 g) fresh mushrooms, sliced

  • 1/2 tsp sage

  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves, crushed

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1 cup (240 ml) chicken broth, from giblet boil

  • 1/2 cup (64 g) chopped pecans

Directions

  • To start, preheat the oven 350 F (180 C).
  • Cook the rice according to the package.
  • Prepare a baking sheet and lay the bread cubes.
  • Make sure to place it 5 inches away from the heat source. Allow them to cook for 2 min. Set aside to cool down.
  • Heat in butter in a pan over medium heat. Saute garlic and onion for 4 min.
  • Add in the mushrooms and allow it to cook for 4 min.
  • Then you can add in the sage with thyme, and season it with a pinch of salt and pepper. Let them cook for 1 min.
  • Pour in the broth, and stir in pecans and bread cubes. Then transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  • Cover it using a peace of foil. Then bake it for 45 min.
  • Best served warm with some turkey and chicken roast.
