  • 1 cup (128 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp garlic salt

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 lb (450 g) button mushrooms, quartered

  • 2 cups (480 ml) oil

  • breadcrumbs


  • Combine flour and garlic salt in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Mix in the egg and water. Stir until smooth.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Test to see if oil is hot enough by frying a drop of batter. The oil is ready if the batter sizzles and floats to the top.
  • Dip mushrooms into the batter then into the breadcrumbs.
  • Fry mushrooms until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove mushrooms from oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve and enjoy!
