Mushroom Pate That Is Delicious and Ethical [Recipe]

For this delicious appetizer, you will need butter, mushrooms, garlic, chicken stock, cream cheese, and scallions.

You can substitute some of these ingredients if you need to. Try using margarine, garlic powder, vegetable stock, vegan cream cheese, and chives.

The mushrooms in this recipe give the illusion of real pate, but you will not be using anything inhumane and you can get tons of flavors. Plus, mushrooms are extremely healthy, as they have vitamins and minerals, and are high in fiber.

To begin making this pate, heat the butter over medium heat. Cook the mushrooms with scallions and garlic for a few minutes. You can then stir in the stock and cook everything over high heat until it thickens and reduces.

Get your blender or food processor ready and combine butter with cream cheese. Blend these two until they are smooth. Add the mushroom mixture and blend everything. Season everything to taste and mix carefully.

You can serve your mushroom pate with a toasted French baguette or crackers. Place a scoop on a charcuterie board with cheese, prosciutto, and even a jam or jelly of your choice.

Mushroom Pate


  • 16 oz (400 g) mushrooms, chopped

  • 8 oz (200 g) cream cheese

  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) chicken stock

  • 1/4 cup (32 g) scallion, chopped

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 2 cloves grlic


  • Heat 2 tbsp of butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Cook mushrooms, scallions and garlic for 5 minutes.
  • Mix in the chicken stock. Cook over high heat until the liquid is reduced to half volume.
  • Using a blender, pulse 2 tbsp of butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add in the mushroom mixture and blend until smooth.
  • Add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • Serve with bread or vegetables.
