Cooking Dinner Tonight? Try This Steak With Mushroom Gravy

To prepare this dish you will need round steak, dry onion soup mix, condensed cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, mushrooms, onions, and mashed potatoes. You also need a slow cooker, though you can use a regular stovetop Dutch oven, or another deep pot to prepare this in.
You can switch out some of these ingredients. Try using pork loin, chicken breast, turkey, canned onion soup, half and half, cream, mixed herbs, vegetable or chicken broth, leeks, and potatoes. To add more of a kick to your sauce, consider adding a touch of white or red wine as well. You can also add more spices, like paprika, black pepper, cumin, or oregano.
If you want to make this recipe vegetarian, consider adding more vegetables, like green beans, asparagus, spinach, shallots, and bell peppers. You can also add tofu a few minutes before the slow cooker is done. For more protein, add beans like cannellini beans, black-eyed peas, and chickpeas.
To start cooking, simply add all the ingredients to the slow cooker, and turn it on at low temperature for 8 hours. You can serve your tasty meal with some rice or egg noodles!
When you are not using a slow cooker, make sure to check on your meal often, moving things around so they do not scorch. You can set the stove to a low temperature with the lid on your Dutch oven or pot.
Remember that the cooking time may vary depending on what meat you are using and the number of vegetables. You can also serve your meal with oven-roasted potatoes, wild rice, or pasta.
